Specimen Requirements:

Collect: One 7 mL plain red. Aseptically remove serum to a sterile tube and freeze.

Transport: 3 mL serum, frozen. (Min: 1 mL)

Unacceptable Conditions: Delayed storage and handling of unfrozen specimens, inadequate information or plasma.

Stability: Ambient: 2 hours; Refrigerated: 24 hours; Frozen: 1 week

Notes: Required information includes time and date of collection, time of last dose, and list of all antibiotics that the patient is receiving or has received in the past 48 hours.
